THE SALLY ROONEY BOOK COLLECTION presents redesigned covers for Normal People, Conversations with Friends, and Beautiful World, Where Are You, conceived as a cohesive series rather than individual interpretations. The project explores the shared thematic undercurrents across Rooney’s novels: intimacy, miscommunication, emotional distance, and the subtle power dynamics that shape contemporary relationships.
Goal: redesign three book covers, all by the same author, in one cohesive design concept.
Through the use of abstract shapes, the various relationships that Rooney writes about are shown in distance, size, and color relations.
Rooney characters often struggle to articulate what they feel, and it’s within that ambiguity that her work reveals the complexity and vulnerability of modern intimacy.
